Next Stop Uganda!

Charlotte and I are busy packing for this years’ visit to three African countries with MoonCatcher sewing guilds. We arrive in Uganda on March 3 and will go to Kenya and Malawi before heading back home at the end of the month. You can follow our blog to “travel” with us. We’ll keep you up to date on our MCP adventures.

My living room is filled with half packed bags and I find myself putting things in one bag only to adjust the weight by taking the same things out and weighing everything again. Thank you to all the people who have helped cut extra Tyvek and waterproof bags for this trip. The MoonBees at St Stephens Church and Union College helped as did my sister Gussie and her partner who cut 3500 pieces of Tyvek.   A lovely man from GlensFalls gifted us with 14 rolls of Tyvek so we’ll keep cutting at these upcoming events. Many thanks to Jake Wright of Terkel Design.

Two more events before we depart!

Updates from Uganda

The MoonCatcher Project is proud to share an update. Two women from GIFTSRwanda traveled to Uganda to meet up with our wonderful coordinator, Phoebe Nabwami,  to learn how to make bar soap and MCP MoonCatcher menstrual kits. They were joined by Sisters in Circles another organization in the village of Maliba, Uganda. Everyone had a wonderful time and learned a lot with dear Phoebe at the helm.

These women will soon have new skills they can use to support their families and their dreams. We are so grateful to our donors who help continue to allow us to grow and reach even more girls, and women.

Updates from Kenya

Our African sewing guilds are busy now that school is back in session. Here are some fun photos from Kenya to show you what they are up to. Over 800 kits have been distributed so far!
